During this tour you’ll cycle deep into history, traveling over 2000 years back all the way to the beginnings of the city of Nijmegen. We’ll ride our bikes to a suburb on the outskirts of Nijmegen to explore some surprising Roman discoveries. This area still contains a number of rich treasures buried underground that you wouldn’t be able to find without a guide. Leaving the suburb, we’ll move downhill to the city centre and the nearby lower city area where we’ll visit the most important highlights in all of Nijmegen’s history. Along the way we’ll get plenty of chances to admire the architecture, paving, memorial locations, arts, and culture. An interactive tour with interesting stories!
To turn your city experience into something extra special, you can choose to plan another activity to do after the cycling tour. Here’s a couple of options you can add during your cycling tour booking:
- A guided tour of the heart of Nijmegen, the Stevenskerk.
- Think you might like to grab a drink and a bite after the cycling tour? You might want to make reservations at Grand café Waterwolf to enjoy its gorgeous view of the Waal.
- Beer tasting session of Nijmegen-made beers at STOOM!
- Visit the centuries-old location where the Lymborch brothers grew up, the founders of Dutch painting. In The House of van Lymborch Brothers you’ll be absorbed into the exciting story of Herman, Paul and Johan van Lymborch. Enjoy their art and experience history in the authentic basement of their 14th century workshop.Picture by: Patrick van Bree
